The Loop creates California native landscapes that support local wildlife, reduce unnecessary inputs, and feel at home in Santa Barbara’s current and future climate.
Miyawaki-Inspired, Where It Fits
In appropriate areas, we use principles of the Miyawaki Method: careful soil preparation, high plant diversity, dense installation, and multiple vegetation layers using locally appropriate native species.
The goal is faster habitat development and a resilient plant community that becomes less dependent on intensive care as it establishes.
Plant selection and density are adapted to the site’s natural conditions, water, exposure, fire considerations, and the native plant community that belongs there.
